YEAR 5

Welcome to Year 5.

5J's class teacher is Mr Gagen, Miss Loughlin, will teach 5A. Mrs Frost and Mr Paratusic are the Teaching Assistants.

This term we will be using The Power of Reading Project for Literacy. We will choose relevant books from the project and use these to develop writing, reading, inference and deduction skills.

This term in Maths we will be looking at, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, as well as Line Graphs, Area and Perimeter.

RE uses the units of work written by Dr Margaret Carswell for the Diocese of Westminster. Each half term we will cover a different aspect of teaching about the life of Jesus, the history of the church and what this means for us and how we live our lives.

In Year 5 we should read for at least 20 minutes each day to an adult.  We should also make sure we know our times tables off by heart.

Homework and spellings will be given out on Thursdays. Spellings will be tested and homework is due back the following Tuesday.

Any questions, please ask! We hope you enjoy Year 5.
