Cafod's Big Lent Walk

Throughout the liturgical season, we are taking part in Cafods, The Big Lent Walk where we encourage families to walk and track their km during the 40 days of Lent. This could include walking to school, the local park or to a friend or families house. For every km they walk, children can receive sponsorship from friends or family members and set themselves their own personal target of how many km they can walk throughout the Lent period. Staff at school will be setting their own walking goals this Lent as well.  All funds raised will be donated to CAFOD (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development), the official Catholic aid agency for England and Wales. CAFOD works around the world to bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice.

£10 can provide nutritious warm meals and shelter to refugees who have fled their homes due to conflict.

£25 can give a child a school uniform, stationary and a school bag – simple, everyday items needed to attend lessons

£50 can provide a family with emergency food following a disaster caused by climate change

£200 can provide a life-changing loan – the first step in helping someone start their own business, or buy farming supplies

£750 can help a remote community to establish their own supply of clean, safe water

We hope that over the next 40 days, our fundraising will go up and up and classes will be tracking this closely.

We know that physical exercise is already great for our mental health but we also want to do our bit to help others. Children will also be given the opportunity to walk in the playground with their class throughout Lent to help clock up the kilometres. Please post any photos of your child completing their walking challenge on tapestry so these can be shared with the class.
