School Building Fund

Sacred Heart, unlike some other local schools, has Voluntary Aided status. This means that if we need to improve the school, or undertake basic repairs or add additional facilities, we need to find 10% of the cost ourselves. We are not helped in this by the Local Authority, Government or the church; we simply rely on the generosity of our parents. If the money is not raised, the work cannot be undertaken.

We have been blessed that our current facilities have been developed with the generous contributions of past and current families. Some examples:

  • Last summer we were able to install air heating, cooling and filtration throughout our main school building, an extensive and expensive project for which we needed to raise £46,000 of the total cost of £460,000.
  • In the summer of 2024 all of the classrooms from Year 1 - 6 were decorated and new fire doors were installed. On this occasion the school had to contribute £6,000 from building fund contributions.

We work closely with our Parents’ Association (PTFA), who support us when they can. However, there are some projects which they are not able to support, and so we need to ask parents and families for their help. We now ask you, our incoming families, to support our aims to create the best possible learning environment for your children as they progress through the school.

We ask that each family, if finances allow, set up a Standing Order with a suggested monthly contribution of £10 per child. We understand that not all families can afford this and others can afford more. We would ask each family to be as generous as possible but to give something on a regular basis, as we rely on your support.

How to contribute

1) Regular donation via standing order: This money goes into an account assigned to the school by the diocese and when the 10% funding is required, this is taken from this account.

Account:  Sacred Heart School Catholic Primary School Building Fund

Sort Code: 16 01 09

Account Number:  00232530

2) Ad hoc contributions: The school appreciate any contributions that families are able to make. You can make an ad hoc donation to the account above. We have also set up a facility on Arbor, our school communications app, for you to make a donation whenever you are able. When you log into your Arbor account through the app, please select School Shop where you will see the School Building Fund option.

GIFT AID

If you are a UK taxpayer, the Gift Aid Scheme allows us to claim back from HMRC an extra 25p for every £1 donated. It will be not cost you any extra. This applies to ParentPay and standing order contributions. Details of the scheme are available on the HMRC website: www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/gift-aid.htm

For both forms of donation, in order for the school to claim gift aid, we will need you to complete the Gift Aid Declaration form.

The Governors would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.
