Jubilee 2025

Jubilee 2025 is a special Holy Year in the Catholic Church, occurring every 25 years, with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope". It is a spiritual event focused on themes of hope, mercy, and forgiveness for a world struggling with conflict, the aftermath of the pandemic, and the climate crisis. The Jubilee involves ceremonies, including the opening of Holy Doors in Rome's major basilicas, and provides opportunities for Catholics to seek forgiveness, indulgence, and a deeper encounter with their faith.

Our Mini Vinnies created posters which went up all around the school just before the launch of the jubilee year. This created lots of interest and excitement for our pupils.

We launched the jubilee year with a big celebration assembly and pupils thought about their own hopes for the world during this time. They added these hopes to foot prints to mark the way that we are pilgrims of Hope walking together on a journey. Our whole school display shows these footprints walking together.

Later in the year our Mini Vinnies went on a collaboative day at Blessed Dominic school. The day was called Fired up…ready to go! The aim of the day was discuss ways our mini vinnies could lead putting Catholic Social Teaching into action during the Year of Hope. Sr Judith Russi really inspired the pupils.

From this work, with our Mini Vinnies decided that they wanted to support those in the world suffering from Food Poverty. All our pupils have fully embraced this idea and this became our school’s jubilee pledge.

The school has already carried out a great deal of work towards this pledge.

The whole school took part in the CAFOD Big Walk to raise money for CAFOD to support their work in fighting poverty.

We have continued our work with the Chipping Barnet food bank to support local people with food poverty.

The mini-vinnies have led a project in school to raise awareness of Food Waste. We are still continuing this project.

In Autumn term we will be celebrating World Porridge Day and raising money for Mary’s meals to support the amazing work they do in ensuring children in the poorest parts of the world go to school and receive a hot meal every day.
